Gardening and Crafting Blog and YouTube Channel!

I've been doing gourd art for over a decade now, but I've also been fascinated with plants and gardening and I've been a frugal, re-purposing crafter before I even picked up a gourd. I thought it was about time to share my gardening and crafting interests with you. Check out my blog:

And my YouTube channel which will feature crafting tutorials and garden tips and lots more.

Christmas 2012 Fremont Holiday Bazaar

I knew I wanted some more gourds with a Christmas theme to sell at the Fremont Holiday Bazaar other than the couple I had leftover from the Christmas before. So, I was able to get 6 gourds completed in about a month's time. I enjoy making gourds with a Christmas theme because I am able to bring my Faith into my work and make my pieces come alive. See something you like? Visit my Etsy shop for those that are still available. http://www.etsy.com/shop/BFGourdCreations

Starting with my favorite of the six I made:

Fall Splendor Collection 2012

I completed six gourds that all have a common theme - the cool, crisp, and colorful fall season, with most of my inspiration coming from trees, leaves and their changing colors. I thought I'd share some photos with you - let me know which is your favorite!
These gourd bowls are for sale now at Magicland Farms. You can also purchase them online. Let me know which you are interested in. bernadettesgourdcreations@gmail.com

Dominican Center Bookstore Grand Rapids - My Gourds are Now Available!

Sister Kathy picked up seven of my gourds this past Friday. I custom made them for her for reselling in the Dominican Center Bookstore and Gift Shop located in Grand Rapids (http://dominicancenter.com/). I made seven gourd vessels and bowls, some with lids and some without, but all with the purpose of being used as Prayer Gourds. Sister Kathy explained this tradition to me as a vessel to hold petitions and problems that should not be dwelt upon but given to God in faith and trust.

And I am happy to say she was very pleased with all of them and has asked me to make seven more for her. But this time she wants me to make them even simpler in design, and I admit it - simple is a challenge for me, but then again challenge is what I like. :)

Here are some photos of them - check them out next time you're in GR. Also, see them featured on the bookstore's website: http://dominicancenter.com/bookstore/featured-gifts/
